Sometimes nature doesn’t show us everything at once.
At first glance, this September scene is full of colour. Bright green reeds and brambles, deep green trees, a brilliant blue sky and great grey clouds that look as though rain might be on its way.
But look a little closer.
And then look again.
Hidden amongst all those greens is a grey heron, standing so still that you could easily miss him. He almost seems to have borrowed the colours around him so he can disappear into the landscape.
How many different shades of green can you spot?
Can you find the brightest patch of blue sky? The darkest rain cloud?
And, most importantly...
Can you find the heron? Send us an email telling us where it is!!!! wildandwonder26@gmail.com
Next time you are outside, stop somewhere for a moment and look at the same view twice. Then look a third time.
What did you notice that you didn’t see at first?
