Wild Wednesday: What Does Your Shadow Notice Before You Do

Wild Wednesday: What Does Your Shadow Notice Before You Do

Some questions make you pause in the middle of your day — not because they’re tricky, but because they ask you to look at something familiar in a new way. Today’s Wild Wednesday question is one of those:

What do you think your shadow notices before you do

Maybe it notices the shape of the ground before your feet touch it. Maybe it sees the sunlight changing before you feel it. Maybe it spots tiny details — a pebble, a leaf, a crack in the pavement — just a moment before you do.

There’s no right answer. Just the one your imagination wanders toward.

Shadows are always with us, quietly stretching, shrinking, following, and leading. Thinking about what they might notice helps children slow down, pay attention to small details, and see the world from a different angle. It’s a gentle way to practise curiosity — the kind that grows confidence and creativity.

Try this: Stand outside and look at your shadow. Move a little. Watch how it changes shape. What do you think it sees first?

I know this is on Wild Wednesday page (which we all love) but just wanted to say how much we are enjoying the free download, colouring pages. Will you be adding more soon and can you add the same pictures but in different age levels? It would be so good because I have a 5 year old and an 8 year old keen colourers !
