A FREE walk with awesome views, Folly Farm is a 250‑acre nature reserve between Bath and Bristol, offering beautiful vistas over the Chew Valley Lakes and the Mendips.
Wander through wildflower meadows and peaceful woodland, keeping an eye out for wildlife along the way.
Follow the different coloured way‑marked paths for gentle walks of all lengths, and enjoy the quiet, calm feeling of being out in nature.
Beaulieu, New Forest, Hampshire
Beaulieu is home to the National Motor Museum, Palace House and Gardens, Little Beaulieu and the historic Beaulieu Abbey.
The Motor Museum is full of nostalgia, with cars that take you right back to childhood and the journeys you used to make.
Wander through the beautiful Palace House Gardens, pause at the Abbey, and then step inside the House to explore its amazing rooms.
And if you’d rather not walk, you can hop on the vintage bus for a gentle ride around the grounds....or take a ride on the monorail, where you can see the gardens, kitchen gardens and more from above.
The Newt, Somerset
The Roman Villa Experience was a real highlight. You’re given headsets that automatically know where you are, and they begin speaking as you move through each area — explaining what you’re looking at and bringing the Villa to life.
It ends with an incredible VR experience that takes you through daily life in the Villa during Roman times — a favourite part for all of us.
Your ticket is a yearly pass, which also gives you entry to lots of other places, including Blenheim Palace and more.

A lovely place for a slow walk and some beautiful photography. Wander through the unique glasshouses and the orangery, and stop by the small area with animals. A calm, beautiful spot to explore.
Wimpole Estate, Cambridgeshire
A beautiful place for a slow, gentle wander. Walk through the impressive gardens, step inside the house, explore the rooms and the servants’ quarters, and enjoy the calm of the estate. A very enjoyable day out — well worth visiting.
Thornbury Castle, Gloucestershire
A peaceful place for a gentle wander. Although it’s a hotel, you’re welcome to explore the gardens — perfect for an hour or two of relaxation, a slow walk, or a quiet lunch.
James Herriot Museum, Thirsk
If you’ve read the books or watched the series, visiting the museum feels extra special — it brings the stories to life. There’s plenty to see inside, and it only takes an hour or two, leaving lots of time to drive through the beautiful countryside where Herriot worked and imagine the long journeys he made on his rounds.
